2021 MRTC Frank Horton Memorial
Winter Off-Road Series
****The 8k (originally scheduled for 2.14.21) has been postponed AGAIN. The new race date for the 8k is Sunday, March 7th. The 10k will still be held on February 28th.***
The MRTC Winter Off-Road Race Series is a collection of four races run each year during the months of January and February. The Memphis weather, as crazy and unpredictable as it is, could deliver a race where it's 70 degrees yet be a cold icy rain or snow day for the next. And trail runners run through it all. New this year - choose to run the race in-person or virtually on your own!

Race Day Health Screening
There will be a required health screening. All runners must check-in at the health screening tent between the hours of noon and 3:30 pm for a temperature check and to complete a waiver stating that you have not had any COVID19 symptoms. Runners with a temperature greater than 100.4 will not be allowed to run. Anyone with a fever will be asked to leave the park or stay in their vehicle.
COVID SPECIFIC SAFETY GUIDELINES
We will ask that any runner, race worker, or spectator who has COVID19 related symptoms to please stay home. Symptoms include: fever in the last 48 hours, chills, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours.
Spectators will be discouraged unless accompanying a minor.
Hand shaking, fist bumps, and hugging are highly discouraged.
Everyone in attendance is asked to maintain 6ft. social distance at all times while at the event.
MASK REQUIREMENT AND SANITIZATION
All runners will be required to wear a mask during all pre and post-race activities. Race workers and spectators will be required to wear a mask at all times. We will make masks available for participants and volunteers who do not have one readily available. Hand sanitizer and hand washing stations will be available throughout the race area.
A points system will be used for both Overall and Age Group awards for the 4-race series. There are no awards for individual races. To be eligible for an award you must run at least 3 of the 4 races. Those runners who complete all 4 races will receive an extra point. Age groups are calculated off the age at the last race of the series.
The awards go 3-deep in Overall Open, 3-deep in Masters, 1-deep in Grand Masters, 1-deep in Senior Master and 3-deep in age groups. Fast runners can miss a race and still (possibly) qualify for an award, depending on the competition. Anyone found sending a substitute to run for them will be completely disqualified from the series. Ties will be broken based on the best performance in the longest race. All decisions made by MRTC will be final.
